Frequently asked questions
We provide preparation for a wide range of immigration interviews, including green card, naturalization, asylum, and other interviews involving complex facts, prior immigration history, sensitive personal backgrounds, criminal-law-related concerns, or credibility issues. Preparation is tailored to the client’s application, supporting documents, and individual circumstances.
Preparation may include reviewing the application and supporting documents, organizing important facts and timelines, identifying possible inconsistencies or risk areas, developing likely questions, conducting practice or mock interviews, and discussing interview strategy. The goal is to help the client understand the record and respond truthfully, clearly, and consistently.
No. We offer focused and limited-scope immigration services. Some clients work with us only for interview preparation, a strategy consultation, document review, or a second legal perspective before an interview or filing. The appropriate scope of service depends on the client’s needs and the nature of the matter.
Yes. We can review materials prepared by the client and help identify missing information, unclear explanations, inconsistencies, or potential risks. We may also provide additional interview preparation or a second perspective to clients who already have immigration counsel, while respecting the existing attorney-client relationship and clearly defining our limited role.
Yes, depending on the type of service. Because immigration law is federal law, clients located in other states may work with us for immigration interview preparation, application planning, document review, and strategy consultations. Family law representation is generally limited to matters within Minnesota jurisdiction. Clients outside Minnesota may receive general educational guidance and, in appropriate cases, participate in online mediation, but we do not represent clients in family court proceedings pending in other states.
Yes. We provide consultations and planning for selected employment-related, self-petitioned, and achievement-based immigration options. Services may include an initial evaluation of possible pathways, discussion of eligibility and evidence, review of professional or academic accomplishments, and guidance on organizing supporting materials. The scope of assistance is determined individually and may be limited to consultation, planning, or document review rather than full application representation.
Yes. We provide general legal education, early-stage consultation, case review, and practical guidance concerning Minnesota divorce, property division, spousal maintenance, child custody, marital agreements, and related family law issues. Clients may consult with us to better understand their rights, identify important issues, prepare for negotiation or mediation, and consider possible next steps. Full representation is accepted selectively.
Yes. We provide mediation for parties who want to discuss separation, divorce, parenting, property, financial arrangements, or other family concerns without immediately beginning or continuing a contested court case. Online mediation may be available to parties in Minnesota and, in appropriate circumstances, parties located in other states. As a neutral mediator, we do not represent either party or provide either party with individual legal advice. Parties outside Minnesota should consult attorneys licensed in their state regarding local law and the finalization of any agreement.
Yes. Our local counsel services primarily focus on immigration matters requiring a Minnesota-based attorney. We may assist with immigration interview attendance, client preparation, local coordination, procedural follow-up, and attorney-to-attorney collaboration. We may also provide selected support in Minnesota family law matters and, in limited circumstances, procedural appearances in criminal matters, depending on the nature and scope of the assignment.
Yes. StreamHorizon Law works with immigrants, international families, and clients from a wide range of cultural and professional backgrounds. Services are available in both English and Chinese, and we are attentive to how language, culture, immigration history, family structure, and financial background may affect a client’s legal concerns and decision-making. Our goal is to provide clear, respectful, and practical guidance tailored to each client’s individual circumstances.
